S & A Under 8's Blues were back in action at Edge Hill Sports Centre today for the Craven Minor League Secretary’s Cup qualifiers.
The boys faced some brilliant sides — including our very own S & A Whites
We also welcomed Arthur into the Blues family, and he slotted in as if he’d been with us all season. The lads were first to every duel and moved the ball with real precision and purpose.
Everyone played their part today — and the goals were shared around. Joey was on fire in goal, and Reggie stepped up brilliantly to help keep a clean sheet when Joey needed a moment after a couple of heavy challenges. Joseph’s footwork was sharp, drifting past players with real speed. Emiel was a rock in the middle, keeping the tempo ticking. Arlo caused big problems for the opposition, cutting inside from the wing, Harvey was a constant threat running in behind and rounding keepers, and Arthur pulled the strings from the back like a proper playmaker.
Because of the number of teams this year, the format changed and only the top two qualified — so with just two losses from six games, we narrowly missed out. Both defeats came against the sides who went on to qualify, including our own Whites. Massive congrats to them. We’ll be cheering them on in the finals
The weather was perfect, the football was top class, and the parents were brilliant as always. With such a huge team performance, choosing a player of the match was impossible — so it went to the whole team.
Onwards and upwards — back in action next week and we can’t wait.
