S & A Under 12's were back in action today after a few weeks without games due to the rain, taking on Southport Trinity Whites at home in a Craven league fixture.
In training recently, we’ve been focusing on praise over criticism, and before the game we spoke to both the lads and the parents about keeping things positive regardless of what happens on the pitch. The response was brilliant. From minute one to sixty, the boys worked tirelessly for each other.
The lads took a deserved lead through Nathan Blanchard, before Henry Moors doubled the advantage to give us a 2–0 lead at half-time.
Having previously given up winning leads after the break, we spoke again about staying positive, managing the game, and keeping our focus. The boys really listened, showing maturity and control to see the game out professionally and secure a well-earned 2–0 win, which moves us up the league.
There was no 'Player of the Match' today — every player performed exactly as we asked and contributed to a true team effort.
A fantastic way to head into the Christmas break. Well done, lads!
