Under 9's

Congratulations to S&A under 9s who today won their semi final to reach the final of the cup .
They played away against a very strong Crosby Stuart side in what was an end to end game of football . At half time it was 0-0 which seemed to reflect how well both teams had battled.
After plenty of early chances from both sides a well worked goal by Crosby Stuart mid way through the 2nd half saw S&A go behind .

The S&A boys showed their courage , reset and from the restart pressed Crosby Stuart and played some lovely team football. Their hard work paid off as minutes from full time S&A where awarded a free kick which they managed to bury in the back of the net . Both sides held onto the draw and it went to extra time . Which reflected once again the game of end to end well worked football that had gone on before . The final whistle came and our boys with great enthusiasm looked towards their team mates for penalties . Once again the boys stood United as S&As keeper Myles stood forward to stand between the sticks for Crosby Stuart to take their first pen. Myles stood big and made the save and the honours where then passed to S&As in form striker Henry who slotted the ball home. It fell back on our Keepers shoulders and another massive save by Myles which meant the pressure was put back onto Crosby Stuart. The final kick of the game fell to club captain Shay who also converted his pen and the players all ran together to celebrate a 2-1 win on pens .
Today the whole team won players of the match for their team performance. They put all their hard work into practice and supported each other on the pitch from defence to midfield and up front, everyone played their part today and did a fantastic job. We couldn’t off asked for any more from them.
