Saturday Senior Reserves

S & A Saturday reserves played their last game of the season this afternoon at home to local rivals Tarleton Corinthians. The home side took to the pitch with the bare eleven with injuries and unavailability hitting their selection hard before kick off.
Tarleton took advantage of sloppy play from S & A to take the lead just 2 minutes in.
S & A had all of their midfield options missing today so a makeshift threesome of Antonio Berisha, Peter Moretti and new signing Dan Reid joined forces to try and drag the home side back into the game. The equaliser arrived on 17 mins when Moretti scored from close range following a corner. Tarleton were very dangerous going forward and again took advantage of S & A losing concentration when they scored a second on 27 mins. S & A forced Tarleton back for a short 5 min spell and from this they scored a leveller on 35 mins when Jamie McCormack scored his first ever goal for his team. After a high ball into the box McCormack slotted a scruffy but welcomed goal. Dan Thompson could of put the red and whites ahead but his weak shot was easily gathered by the Tarleton keeper. Ht : 2-2.
S & A were lucky to have two subs in George Fletcher and Adam Haines who had turned up late due to work and they both played their part in an exciting end to end game. In a 5 min period Josh Oldfield made two very important saves for S & A to keep them level.
S & A could of nicked it near the end but after a great move Sean Doran just couldn’t get his shot off. Big shout today for Joe Lloyd who came on with twenty mins to go after getting a late call last night. Player of the match today was a joint affair with both captain Tom Wright and fellow defender Jamie McCormack getting the managers vote. Well done lads.
