Saturday Senior Reserves have waited for over three months to play their next home game. They welcomed Appley Bridge FC to the Ainsdale Club in what was an exciting end to end game. S & A started poorly and before they could blow off the cobwebs of no match action they fell behind to a worldly of a shot to go one behind on 4 mins. Once they composed themselves S & A played some nice football with Jack Osborne causing the opposition some problems off the left. S & A we’re awarded a penalty on 18 mins which Antonio Berisha despatched nicely into the corner. Sean Doran then put the home team ahead on 29 mins after a goalmouth scramble. When Appley Bridge attacked both defender Tom Wright and goalkeeper Josh Oldfield came to S & A’s rescue. Ht 2-1
The second half was much the same with Appley Bridge pressing for an equaliser which duly came on 59 mins after a break away goal. Oldfield came to S & A’s assistance again with a crucial save on 64 mins after a quick break. Peter Moretti was close to giving S & A the lead with a smart header which came back out off the near post. The home side responded by changing to a three at the back formation which changed the game as they created a few half chances. One of these was put away by recently Introduced sub and emergency striker Tom Haworth on 83 mins. Before S & A could re-group they once again failed to stop Appley Bridge scoring from yet another worldly of a goal. Credit to both teams today as the game was played in the right spirit. Ft 3-3. Man of the match : Tom Wright.
