Saturday Senior Reserves

Saturday senior reserves travelled to Much Hoole to and claim a place in the semi finals of the Lancastrian Brigade Cup. With a number of regulars missing S & A had a squad of just 13 fit players. The game started brightly for the home team who had the majority of the play winning four corners in the first five minutes. They took the league after sloppy defending gifted them the lead from close range. With a field of a pitch the home team continued with the tactic of the long ball and long throws but it was effective as S & A struggled to create any real passage of play.
S & A equalised on 23 mins after a quickly taken free kick saw Dan Thompson put Tom Wright through who scored on the turn.
Ht 1-1
S & A started the second half with a little more purpose and created a number of half chances but Jack Osborne, Dan Thompson, George Fletcher and Antonio Berisha were either off target or thwarted by the outstanding Hoole keeper.
On 64 mins and completely against the run of play Hoole took the lead again after sloppy defending by the visitors.
S & A changed shape to three at the back with just 15 mins remaining but even though they dominated the play they simple could not find an equaliser.
One min from time winger Osborne broke into the box only to be brought down. Fortunately the ref pointed to the spot and Osborne himself slotted home from the spot.
Ft 2-2.
S & A took control in the extra time period and should and could of won by a couple of goals but with just 5 mins remaining of the extra time period Fletcher scored from 18 yards with an unstoppable shot in the top corner. No man of the match was awarded as the manager simply felt it was eventually a team effort to progress to the semi finals.
