The under 13s played at home today against a strong Southport Athletic Reds. It was a very close, competitive game against tough opposition. Although we had the majority of the attacks some resolute defending from Southport Athletic kept us at bay and we went into half time at 0-0
In the second half we kept applying the pressure and managed to get ourselves ahead when Shea Mcdonald managed to nick the ball and stab one in from close range. After that we kept applying the pressure but again their defence remained tight. We were well organised all over the pitch though and we managed the game well seeing ot out and holding on to our 5th clean sheet of the season so far.
Another really good team performance from the boys who sit joint second in the league.
The players MOTM went to Shea McDonald for the winning goal and for the constant pressure he applied to the opposition defence.
The manager's vote went to Matty Hand who was solid at the back today and limited the opposition to very few chances. He was calm and assured and the opposition struggled to get the better of him.
