The U13s played Greenloons Yellow away today. The game was fairly even for the first 10 minutes but we took an early lead with a well taken goal from Shea McDonald. Not long after the ref gave the opposition a dubious free kick on the edge of the area which was put away well by Greenloons after we were slow to get our wall set properly.
The boys then stepped up a gear and took total control of the game with Joseph Graham putting us back in the lead. James Totty then made it 3-1 shortly after and Shea McDonald scored his second of the match to make it 4-1 a few minutes after that. We were now dominating the game and put the opposition under continuous pressure resulting in Shea McDonald getting his hat-trick and making the scoreline 5-1 just before half time.
Ht : 1-5
The second half saw us give away a penalty when the ball bounced up onto one of our players hands and the opposition put the penalty away to make it 5-2. We kept the pressure on though and Shea McDonald scored his fourth goal of the day midway though the second half and putting us 6-2 up.
Today was another fine performance from the boys, who have really stepped up another level in our first season of 11 a side football.
Today's 'Player of the match' as voted by the team goes to Shea McDonald for his four goals and all round performance putting the opposition defenders under constant pressure.
The managers 'Player of the match' went to Andrés Cervera who got three assists and who, playing just behind the front three was a fantastic link between the midfield and attack.
