Squad depth stands tall in crucial home win for Greenwoods boys

S & A U14's reds hosted Town green this morning for a top of table clash in what could be a season defining December given the fixture schedule.
Preparation for this game started at training on Thursday with the ownership given to the players to decide on our approach for this game.
With 5 players unavailable some changes were agreed and for the first time this season a 4-3-3 was deployed.
The superb Harrison Coates stepped in at Centre back for captain Freddie Greenwood again through illness.
Matty Cosgrove tucked in centrally on the left beside Captain Lucas Charnock complimented by Lewis Handley - Walsh.
A perfect midfield trio.
The front three saw the excellent Adam Keating lead the line with the class of Luca Bailey and Charlie Love either side.
Starting the game unbelievably well you could see the lads were up for the challenge.
Winning every tackle and picking up every second ball the boys were a joy to watch.
The first half plaudits undoubtedly went to Matty Cosgrove.
His finest display in the famous S & A shirt.
Such an intelligent player, with the desire and determination to recognise opposition strengths and to nullify their main threat.
It wasn't long before key player Luca Bailey picked up the ball on the left flank.
A little trickery on the touch line with fantastic feet left the defender for dead.
He wasn't finished yet, a purposeful left footed cross into the box found the alert Adam Keating with some nice work to find little magician Lewis Handley - Walsh who finished well.
Ht : 1-0
Second half as planned we introduced Daniel Nuttall and Zayn Rodrigues Ayubo.
A tweak in formation to compliment their strengths worked nicely and both these boys delivered.
Daniel Nuttall was clearly up for the game showing desire and determination making some crucial challenges along the way and worked tirelessly for the team. Excellent.
Zahn Rodrigues - Ayubo, what a technically gifted player he is .
A disciplined performance who is prepared to put his body on the line and did not put a foot wrong.
Every pass was perfect, and he should be delighted with his contribution today.
So much more to come from Zayn. What a great lad he is.
Town green as expected were striving forward searching for the equaliser.
The back 5 including Seb Mcllveen were solid and calm all game and their distribution was calculated and purposeful.
Louis McLoughlin took the plaudits though -what a display from this young man.
Nothing was getting past him today, quick, strong and aggressive and fantastic in the air defending with class all game.
Unbelievable performance.
Before long, the classy Lewis Handley - Walsh picked up the ball and played in Harvey Thompson on the right wing who drove forward and fired home with a delightful finish.
There were so many fantastic individual performances, too many to mention but collectively as a team by far out best performance to date this season.
Ft : 2-0
Proud of the boys.
