Take a bow Harvey Thompson
&A U14's reds took the short journey to the rookery this morning to play Trinity whites.
Travelling with a squad of 15 a few tweaks to the side from last week saw us play 4-4-2 with Harrison Coates slotting in at left centre back for the absent Captain Freddie Greenwood through illness.
Matty Cosgrove shifted centrally with Captain for the day Lucas Charnock in central midfield.
Lewis Handley-Walsh returned to the side starting on the Left with Harvey Thompson occupying the right flank.
A scrappy game from the off , S&A were 2-0 to the good at half time with the first an own goal from Trinity after 11 mins.
4 minutes later a quick thinking Ashton Collins delivered the perfect throw in to send Luca Bailey on his travels to slot home with yet again a classy finish.
HT : 0-2
Second half we matched trinity with what appeared to be a 4-2-3-1 formation with Harvey Thompson and Matty Cosgrove holding as pivots both playing the 6 role.
This then gave license to the forward thinking players of Luca Bailey, Lewis Handley - Walsh and captain Lucas Charnock to take control of the game with either Adam Keating or Charlie Love leading the line.
Within two minutes of the restart Charlie love added to his impressive stats by slotting home with intent from a lovely left footed cross between the back line of trinity from the relentless Luca Bailey.
Another quality finish from Charlie nipping in-between the centre Half's to latch onto the ball to slot home with ease.
3-0
3 minutes later, set piece expert Charlie Love delivered a quality corner.
Rising like a salmon Harvey Thompson headed home to make it 4-0.
A twenty minute lull in the game was brought to a halt when little magician Lewis Handley- Walsh dribbled his was through a pool of players to deliver a purposeful cross to Luca Bailey coming in from the left to finish superbly well.
5-0.
S&A were now playing a narrow 3-2-3-2 formation with Left centre back Harley Clough ghosting into the box. A rebounded shot fell to his feet again to slot home on the second attempt to add to his tally for the season.
FT : 6-0
Special mentions today go out to the excellent Lewis Handley - Walsh who was dribbling past players at ease all game.
Captain Lucas Charnock awarded Man of the match today and that goes to Harvey Thompson who switched from right wing to Holding midfielder and applied himself to that role perfectly well , responding to coaching points and grabbing a goal to round off a perfect display doing the basics well and sacrificing many of his attributes for the good of the team.
Harvey Thompson, take a bow son. Brilliant.
