Southport & Ainsdale U14's reds hosted Churchtown Yellows at the club this weekend in our first home game of the season.
After an initial pitch inspection the game went ahead and the conditions were perfect.
Starting the game with a 4-2-3-1 formation , we started brightly and after 8 minutes we were awarded a penalty which was earnt and subsequently converted by the excellent Luca Bailey after some great feet and trickery in the box.
Churchtown responded though shortly after to make it 1-1 with a quick fire goal.
Harvey Thompson starting the game in centre midfield justified his change of position and after last week's man of match performance popped up with a cheeky finish on 22 mins.
With S&A dominating possession for the remainder of the half Harrison Coates composure and quality on the ball was paramount to our philosophy.
Playing under pressure and keeping possession is Harrison's greatest quality.
A technically gifted player that makes the team tick.
HT 2-1 S&A
Second half Churchtown changed their approach to the game and equalised shortly after to make it 2-2 and all to play for.
On 54 mins the brilliant Adam Keating played in Lewis Handley - Walsh down the right flank who latched on to the pass and drove forward with a purposeful dribble and a quality finish in the bottom corner. 3-2 to S&A.
With 16 mins to play and Churchtown pushed on and it was backs to the wall for the home side.
Churchtown equalised in added time.
Ft : 3-3
Proud of the lads, a good squad performance overall.
Man of match Harrison Coates.
