S & A U14's reds made the short journey to Kirkby to play Finn Harps in a cup qualifier this weekend.
Making just one change from last week's team Harvey Thompson replaced the injured Charlie Love.
Playing a 4-4-2 formation we asked for a bright start after a slow start last week against Greenloons.
The boys delivered and we were two nil to the good early doors.
The first came with some great work from Luca Bailey on the left side who showed lovely composure with a lovely assist for Adam Keating to tap one home.
The second followed shortly after from a nice ball over the top from Ashton Collins with Luca Bailey again latching onto the pass and slotting home to make it 2-0.
Complacency set in and we allowed Kirkby to settle into the game allowing them too much time on the ball.
They played some nice football and got one back, which was deserved.
Ht : 1-2.
Second half we switched to 4-5-1 to tighten things up in the middle with Harvey Thompson setting the standards with work rate and desire.
The complacency continued though and Kirkby got the equaliser which again was deserved and it was looking like extra time was looming.
Reverting back to 4-4-2, another ball over the top for Luca Bailey to round the keeper with a classy finish when it mattered the most.
Ft : 2-3.
Joint man of matches Luca Bailey for two goals and an assist and Harvey Thompson for his work rate and desire.
Well done lads.
