Versatility is key for POTM Matthew
S&A U14's reds played their first league game of the season away to Greenloons.
Well done to both teams, both observing a minute's silence in honour of the Queen.
A positive morning overall with 3 boys making their debuts, a convincing win, clean sheet and 10 different goal scorers from the squad of 16 that made the short journey to Formby.
Some fantastic long range strikes on numerous occasions, some excellent team goals also.
Charlie Love was unfortunate not to receive man of match award with a brace and three assists after a solid individual display.
The plaudits went to Matthew Cosgrove scoring a screamer from range, but starting the game left midfield in a 4-4-2 formation he was a constant threat and his recovery runs were exceptional when required.
His versatility is one of Matthew' greatest attributes, also playing in centre midfield and right back in short spells during the 70 mins.
To conclude, a great performance from Matthew and as a coach the most important thing he is a very coachable boy who is fully committed to both training and match days.
Next week we travel to Kirkby for our first cup game of the season.
