Sunday Senior 1st team

Sunday 1st team impressed in their convincing win against Clay Brow Athletic at Edge Hill University this morning. On a superb playing surface S&A dominated the majority of the game and could have won by more. A depleted squad made the trip with the game very nearly starting with only ten players available. However it was S&A who should have took the lead in the first minute but Paul Grant was denied by a great save. Joe Tierney then went close twice again forcing a super stop from the Clay Brow keeper. The break through came from a corner which saw Lamont pounce to fire home. S&A then nearly scored a second after a lovely one touch move but Grant was denied again. The second half started in a similar fashion Pilkington was denied after another flowing move. Clay Brow now started to believe they could get back into the game with Josh Walker producing a great save to deny them. Edgar then went close with a free-kick while Pilkington poked an effort wide. The points were wrapped up late on when Lamont was on hand to score. Paul Grant added a third with stunning free-kick which found the top corner.
