Sunday Senior 1st team

Sunday 1st team were in Cup action this morning. Current holders after winning the competition three times in a row. They took on Championship side Lydiate St Thomas at the club. A perfect start saw Lamont score after a fine delivery from Wincer. They had to wait until the 23rd minute for the second goal during that time the Lydiate keeper had made at least 8 very fine saves. The second came when Brooks crossed and Edgar scored at the second attempt. A third then soon followed when Brooks found Grant who fired home. Grant was then on hand to play in Pilkington for a fourth and the same player only two minutes later added a fifth. Just on half time Edgar got his second after another assist from Brooks. The second half was much quieter but S&A should have had a seventh when Grant saw his superb finish ruled out for offside when he looked to be well on. Pilkington Grant and Lamont all should have added to the tally while Lydiate did get themselves a consolation goal and credit to them for keeping going and not letting their heads drop.
