Our Sunday Blues secured back to back Premier Division titles after victory in the derby at a rain soaked Ainsdale Club.
A game of very few chances saw our Blues come out on top again winning 2-1 against Whites.
The game was played in atrocious conditions in driving rain and gusty winds. Whites went close very early on when Kev Edgar whipped in a dangerous cross which saw a spectacular save from Pritchard. Both teams then saw both midfields try and get a grip of the game. Blues took the lead through their first main attack with Connor Tierney heading home. However Whites responded 10 minutes later when Williams-Trantor played in Edgar who beat the on rushing keeper.
Pritchard then produced another fine save just on HT 1-1 at the break. Conditions got worse in the second half. Blues had already lost Corey Forshaw to a dislocated shoulder while Whites skipper Spencer was forced off with a hamstring strain. Both teams struggled to create much. Blues missing a golden chance as they started to push Whites back. Then in the 75th minute Blues were awarded a free-kick of which Ben Coates produced a stunning finish. Whites then pushed for an equaliser but couldn't find a way through a stubborn Blues defence however right on full time they thought they had won a penalty when Mawdsley was brought down but offside was given not on him but another player who wasn't interfering in play.
Blues now have won 11 from 11 in the division and are on course for a quadruple while the Whites will be hoping they can try and stop them in 2 of the cups. However momentum is strongly with our Blues and you wouldn't put it past them adding more trophies to their list before seasons ends.
